ok I think I've finally polished off the re-done Matrix install. Don't have everything quite tidy yet as far as cleaning up test users and rooms but I've finally whittled the sign up and auth flow down to the most streamlined I can possibly make it. Authentik, auto SSO, local passwords turned off, only SSO users. Got the sign up and re-auth down to like 5 clicks total. My first go around people could barely figure out how to register with my server and not the default. #matrix #element

And also I'm hosting it out of my childhood bedroom on a little mini-PC instead of a VPS costing me $30 or so a month. #matrix #element

@brett@bitflipp.social ElementX has ridiculous flow for login/register if you go for non-default server. Fluffy is the only one normal. But it lacks calls. For so many years in the matrix ecosystem I was tired waiting for something complete, working and non-confusing modern client. I am hosting now xmpp server and I have to say I have not only my family, but also many friends and their families too. With invite-only registration. Easy to invite with "great invitations" and navigate through the app. Mainly Conversations for Android.
