A good process protects hard disagreements. But when the process is weaponized, it stops protecting the work and starts driving good people away.

@sphcow@mas.to timely reminder. RFC 9945 just came out to address a piece of it. i could also name names for all sorts of instances of this but agree that highlighting a few disruptive folks distracts from the real and ongoing problem. my experience is more in the IETF arena but i've seen way too many standards die or take vastly longer, really good WG chairs stop participating in frustration, etc. standards work is people and politics and underlying agendas fully as much as it is the technical work and we all need to accept that and deal with it.
