Just added the following, after paragraph 14:

It’s human nature to be overwhelmed by awe in the presence of great people. Om was not. To impress Om, you needed to deliver impressive new work. He was impervious to riptides of hype. Those are superpowers in this racket.

@gruber@mastodon.social Really beautiful piece on Om. I didn’t know him well, but he was kind enough to be a guest on the AppleInsider podcast when I was hosting. It’s a few years old, but he was saying things about the creator economy and social networks that are still applicable today. @gruber@mastodon.social I loved your post about Om Malik. Lovely photos too. Couldn’t help but notice that he was wearing huge glasses just fine. Bet he could have pulled off the Specs too.
