@maudenificent@aus.social A bit harsh, but I understand the sentiment behind it. I agree that the Law should be impartial and should reflect the wish of the people it serves — that is, all of us. As community expectations change, so should the law. I believe that Australian Law is largely guided by precedents until new legislation is enacted to provide new cases to be tested in the Courts (I’m not a lawler so this is what I surmise). As for the #Entitled #RichBastards, as you suggest, we could stich them by changing fines to be commensurate with the level of #Wealth held by the offending individual or corporation entity and should be sufficiently burdensome to prevent recidivism. This would also provide better outcomes for those less well off and put an end to #StrategicLitigation (SLAPP). But it is what it is. Until we vote a govt in that is willing to change the laws accordingly.
