I thoroughly sympathize. I have a substantial aversion to playing games with a wiki. As a player, I do not like having to guess whether game content is something I am supposed to look up online, or figure out in the game. If the former, creators should just put the information in the game, even if it is nothing more than an inelegant text file. And I often feel that, if I am just going to follow an online guide, I might as well skip installing the game and just watch a playthrough on YouTube.

I transitioned from playing games with guides and wikis to not using outside help unless I really have no idea what the game expects me to do. The joy of knowing what to do that guides give you can be replicated by a second playthrough but that first experience full of mystery is something you can only have once for a given game. Not to mention how much outside sources ruin immersion!
