Alright. On July 3rd (by my clock), the admin of Burnout Cafe publicly called upon Mastodon.social to ban / block "homosexual pornography". This was widely seen as a bad idea. And also homophobic, which it was and is. Because of an attempt to impose his bigotry on the whole of the fediverse, Burnout Cafe was subject to a number of fediblock notifications. Fediblock is a hashtag developed by queer and BIPOC people to notify the community about accounts and servers who other members of the community may wish to block. After being called on it, the Burnout Cafe admin said (approximately) no, it's about all porn, not just homosexual porn. Which would have been easier to buy if he hadn't started this by demanding Mastodon.social ban / block "homosexual pornography." He switched to calling for the banning / blocking of all porn (regardless of how much or how little homosexual) and made a personal plea to website boy to block / ban all porn. He has also suggested that all adult content on the fediverse be limited to only instances set up specifically for that purpose, essentially demanding a netsplit of the fediverse. Making his bigoted request apply to all pornography instead of just "homosexual pornography" doesn't actually solve the problem of bigotry. He also claims that getting fediblocked for his discriminatory attempts amounts to discrimination. This shouldn't be taken as a full summary of what's going on. I can't be bothered to read all of the conversations going on around Burnout Cafe. My purpose in sharing this is that information on the fediverse is asymmetric and you may not have been aware of this ongoing incident. Hopefully it was also entertaining. I will ask that you not go to that guy's mentions. There are enough people who have already told him that he's a homophobe among other things.
