The worst offenders are the sovereignty-pilled European tech bros who think plaintext-in-Europe is just fine.
I argue that well-implemented cryptography ia resilient even when your governments go more authoritarian. Hope isn't a strategy.

@soatok@furry.engineer I wish people could hold two thoughts simultaneously. Signal is both flawed and the best option currently. We can promote it and also demand that it improve. Otherwise what? Telegram?

@soatok@furry.engineer That makes sense. Because Europe has never experienced a rapid slide from a relatively free government to an aggressive authoritarian regime that then used the record keeping of the previous government to target specific people. 🤔
