@SteveBellovin@infosec.exchange @spaf@mstdn.social I think that is a feature, not a bug. I have also heard from federal employees about grants being de-funded for including the word "bias," without considering that the word was being used describing statistics.

@rrb@infosec.exchange @spaf@mstdn.social Yup. Look at https://www.cs.columbia.edu/~smb/classes/f23/l_ml.pdf, some intro slides for my old anonymity and privacy seminar, and note how many times I had to use the word "bias", sometimes in a statistical sense and sometimes in a legal sense.
