#ScribesAndMakers 10. (Excluding time travel) Do you have a preference between books that progress linearly and books that jump back and forth in time (flashbacks etc)? Linearly. I don't mind the odd flashback, well used, but during that diversion, I always feel a tension to return to the main story. And if there are too many diversions or if it's unclear which is even the main story, I find the whole book frustrating.
