If #Commodore really want to tap into a market with a lot of unmet demand, they should release a zero-BS "semi-dumb" TV:
• support for all popular modern and legacy video connectors (including wireless options)
• focus on minimal latency
• snappy interface
• fast startup
• open-source firmware
• support streaming services
• no tracking, no ads, no undesired network traffic of any kind
The built-in upscaler that deals with legacy signals could have tons of options for retro enthusiasts.

@cobbpg@mastodon.gamedev.place this is very cool idea for them to consider, all the converters we fight with in modern LCD/OLED HDMI/USBC era built in and just flagged as different type of source to choose from. A proper wide and 4:3 handling and yeah.. just working.. without all the crapware and spyware software TV/monitor never needed to work!

@cobbpg@mastodon.gamedev.place I think there was a recent attempt for a retro computer friendly monitor, but it was a bit of a failure.

@cobbpg@mastodon.gamedev.place Find a good screen that also supports the 8/16 bit frequency today is hard, also. That's alone would be a must have.
