It's #SolarPunkSunday so here is a screenshot of a pedal + solar powered bus I'm creating for my new short film. #WindShortFilm Still a work in progress and just today I realized I have to create dozens of cars, because it is a future without capitalism and so no factories, since everything is 3d printed in the backyard, no two cars can be alike. And the shapes have to be funky and fun and outlandish... Whew. I foresee sleepless nights to chun them out #b3d #blender #solarpunk

@dilmandila@mograph.social "since everything is 3d printed in the backyard, no two cars can be alike": standardized components still make sense, just because people will share design files and cooperate on improvement. Customization most likely will happen for aesthetic or special functional purposes. If you think about all the different makes and models of cars that are out there today, a main reason for all the different variants is to have something new to sell every year. If that incentive goes away and cars are designed by the actual users I expect that there will be less different base models. Of course the customizations based on those base models will be infinite.
