USA used to believe that private enterprise is a religion and the State owning any piece of a business is Communism. They also still claim to fight Communism, a system which died a deserved death decades ago. @osma@mas.to The US Republicans are trying to control what is taught in classrooms and universities, what books are on library shelves, what it is permissible to say out loud without being subjected to vicious smear campaigns, even how folks can self-identify themselves. They're trying to micromanage every aspect of public life. The term for that is totalitarianism. "Everything within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state", as Mussolini put it. This is fascism, not communism.
