@mcmullin@musicians.today @sknob@mamot.fr @meljoann@topspicy.social The cool thing about music to me is that, at its best, it is actually *not* evenly distributed time, but a performer's stretching and shrinking of time. There's been a lot of really interesting research done on micro-timing, and how incredibly consistently and precisely good performers mess with time. Very interesting stuff!
And it's also the thing we've lost when we dump everything onto a grid and quantize it. :(
