@whvholst@eupolicy.social ...but that's just the identity of what I said. how does that process work? what leads them to do that? how do they perceive the person they are touching? do they? who are they accountable to in their own mind? what is the reward, what is the thing they're afraid of?

@quinn@social.circl.lu I strongly suspect that a lot of it has to do with having been raised with authoritarian ideas, especially: beliefs about reality should be accepted from one's authorities, not from examination of evidence.power and social standing (artificial consequences) matter more than natural consequences TLDR: they think differently about the world than we do. Once you understand that, their actions make a lot more sense (even if they're no less awful). @whvholst@eupolicy.social
