Hypercard introduced people to some basic interactive programming techniques, Hyperscript let them level up in an easy way that didn't require lots of fancy knowledge

many people learned to program initially from Hypercard and if they wanted to extend the functionality of their non-Hypercard software, MacOS had facilities for that too: AppleScript
