Wifey is groaning because she knows how anxious I get in the process of figuring things out, but the more I think about this, the more it makes sense - When I complete my build later this year, I should move [back] to Linux. I have already de-Googled and de-Meta'd. Microsoft was on my list, as are all the Big Techs. What better time to do this than when I move stuff from one computer to another? So much of my stuff are on the Web, too. I just need to figure out gaming and back up (i.e., Backblaze)

I've been using the last moments of my vacation (going back to work next week) to do some research. The thought of moving away is exhilarating. I am too old to wrestle with my OS but not too old to learn new stuff My PC is not complete yet, so the research is on paper. Here is what I have learnt: - Although BackBlaze doesn't have a linux client, they do support it through BackBlaze B2 + third party client, e.g., Restic. But ... this opens up options. I don't have to stay with BackBlaze. What are people using? - I can probably try to run my games through Steam + Proton. If it doesn't work, Lutris or Faugus - For Discord, get Flatpak, and then get Discord through there. I am expecting that I can get most apps through Flatpak - Looks like Notepad++ doesn't support Linux, but I will find something else - Not too worried about things like LibreWolf, VLC, Visual Studio Code, etc.
