The ol' Ronald D. Moore series arc (Battlestar Galactica was the same way):
Season 1: Wow this is the best series ever!
Season 2: This doesn't go quite as hard, but it's still good!
Season 3+: Did they fire all the writers and replace them with ideas pulled out of a hat?

@alessandro@cosocial.ca I think BG3 endured the writers’ strike but I definitely know what you mean. Weird ending too.
