The caller didn't identify himself and the connection might not have been clear because my friend didn't immediately recognize the voice. "Who is this?" "It's your brother, stupid." And so when she introduced her brothers to people, she would say "This is my brother Roy and this is my brother Stupid."

    @Karen5Lund@mastodon.social @vaurora@mstdn.social @effy@social.effy.space My family's from Liverpool, and in that dialect "dead" means "very". As in "I got this top dead cheap — I love it!" I once signed off an email to a (non Liverpudlian) girl I really fancied with "Hopefully see you dead soon". It took me ages to realise... ☠️
