Looked at today's chatter and tried to figure out when I last bought a videogame on physical media. I think probably 2013.

@zarfeblong@mastodon.gamedev.place I guess it's time to propose a serious exemption to piracy laws for this kind of use? At this point arguably you should probably be playing Bioshock on an emulation of a median 2007 PC/PS3/360, not a modern remaster, and you should definitely just be loading up supermariobros.nes into an emulator instead of having to buy a friggin' Switch. (hell, I could see a piracy-embracing game history course where half of the games were just crammed onto a Raspberry Pi with emulators and a nice front-end, plug it into your TV and jack in any common USB controller and go.)
