thinks cars pay for roads lmao, show me a solvent transportation department! Every mile driven is $5-10 of public expense, and only maybe a dollar is paid by the driver. But to collect this sweet subsidy, you need to bring a car. Price of entry to society 🙄 Drivers who talk like this just mean they want to keep "those people" [the un-car-laden] out of the neighborhood.

@enobacon@urbanists.social Yes, keeping people out is an important function of cars being dangerous. Pedestrians and cyclists need to be maimed and killed regularly to keep them off the street, and keeping them out of the neighbourhood might either be a ”nice” side effect of that or one of the main reasons.
