@art_of_goulwenr@mastodon.art I think it is the same as how they interpret sci-fi. They almost take the polar opposite of the message because they feel more affinity to the bad guy that has all the power. The little seed of megalomania gets watered by it. In the modern era we let these sorts of people and their companies go so unencumbered by regulation and laws that they become a juggernaut.

@hankg but still it seems very strange to identify to the villains: after all, there’s a good reason if they are the villains 🙃 It makes me think of the Evil Queen in Once Upon a Time TV Show who was seeking to have her good ending for once: she started to try to get it using her usual tricks until she finally understands that her redemption was the key. Sadly I’m not sure tech bros can/want to have a redemption path
