In a good world, this would have a potential to be a good thing: less discs created in the world. However, in the current world, this just means that Sony and/or the game developers have more power to decide that the game you purchased won't be available to you anymore and pull it from your library or make it impossible to re-download. So much of modern gaming won't be available in the future in a way that 90s and early 2000s games are today.
