@david_megginson@mstdn.ca uke players are worse, in my experience. Although they're not at such high tension, and are either fluorocarbon or nylon, and therefore break very rarely, some players I have met have been playing 5 years or more and NEVER changed them from the stock ones that were on when bought. As soon as the strings are pitting where they hit the frets, they need replacing.
