@apophis@yourwalls.today @briellebouquet@lgbtqia.space unfortunately given our shared semi-localized community, that is actively not what the people in power in community believe.
Our local communities are really heavily invested in “civility” and “respectability”, so if people have even the slightest tinge of displeasure in their voice it gets outright ignored and vilified.
My local pride board discusses my every move in public on their official channels because I am very vocal about how they are organizing (I was a pride organizer for a couple years). A few months ago they announced spending $5k on a Ru-Paul Queen performance. I popped up in the comments with a quick calculation on how many trans people could’ve received HRT care for a year on that dollar amount. I later confirmed that the Pride board ridiculed my suggestion and claimed that it was just more proof that trans people shouldn’t be part of Pride.
If you want to be heard in our local by the Pride boards, better learn to slide in a dagger while beefing up your targets ego with a smile.

@technocrow@blahaj.zone @apophis@yourwalls.today thank's ru paul seriously that's absurd. and yeah. how many homeless queers out there and they burned 5K on drag. how many drag performers locally could've made better use of that money. so many better ways to serve the community. i'm sorry that people are like this.
