The key words you want to start researching are “Cherry MX” for the key switches and key caps, “keyboard matrix” for the details on how to wire up the key switches, and “keyboard firmware” for the software that runs on the microcontroller that turns physical key-presses into keyboard protocol scan-codes.

    @jpm@aus.social @projectgus@aus.social @voltagex@infosec.exchange @Unixbigot@aus.social thx for the info 💕 I’m already into mech keebs so I’m familiar with the terms to search, etc., on that side of things I’m trying to avoid having to do a completely bespoke project & learn all the intricacies, do you have any recs for companies / places that make it more of a “drop board layout schematic & keycap designs > pick some other variables > push button > get keyboard” kind of process?
