taking recommendations for how to not get plunged into a pit of depression today with the smooth transition from "rain events of the century" to "localized flooding and also please don't flush your toilets" to "it feels like the tropical pyramid in the entire city" to "there are monster mosquitoes that get me through my jeans" and now SMOKE #yegWX #Edmonton #yeg

@robyn@yeg.bike I'm sorry, nothing helpful to add, Same thing down here south of Calgary. Smoke just starting to roll in after the deluges. River nearly cresting. {Got married 13 years ago last week during the floods then, so it kinda sticks in the memory}, Now I'm struggling to find a (Sr, or Jr) Dev job that isn't actually babysitting LLMs as they burn more carbon and boil more water to both copy my input into themselves and produce crappy output that I'm responsible for. So... Work that actively is bad and does bad things enriching bad people with the long term goal of being able to employ fewer and fewer people in preference to paying multiples of that to another corp for the privilege of inferior results "at scale" while also contributing at 10x to the climate crisis for no rational reason. Or... I dunno. I'm going independent contractor route trying to position myself into our local economy as general tech, nerd, do-gooder. Marketing to the local people and locally owned companies I know and like.
