@tombofnull@voidwood.online This is a really interesting problem, and I wish I had better info for you. If you can parse the safety data sheets, and if your ink is from a corp that offers these publicly, it's possible that you might glean the ability to estimate based on specific ingredients in the tube, but it's hard to say -- because of a whole lot of stuff you already pointed out. Does the micronized vs. non-micro particle thing matter at all for painting? Like, in trad circles when they used their tat ink for painting it was usually when folks still had their apprentices mixing pigment into suspension as part of learning to tattoo, before most of this stuff was truly mass-produced, but I'm fairly sure none of my real paints use "micronized" pigment particles, but at the same time, does it matter? Bleed and ink drift in skin is extremely different than canvas or paper. If you figure any of this out I hope you'll update!

    @Siiin@pagan.plus similar thoughts lol. Glancing through the data sheets for some of think inks I use, its basically pigment + alcohol + water. Solid also throws a little bit of witch hazel in there, and a couple of the brands have glycogen. If anything, they seem pretty barebones. Doing some light re-reading, some pigments found in tat inks are also found in regular paints. From a very, very light amount of digging and some diy testing, all that's needed is just a medium, if that. On pigment size--
