@curtmack@floss.social I didn't find an explanation for this episode, and everyone involved except Shatner is dead now, but Serlng's closing monologue makes it clear the story is about the folly of supersticion. The same point has been made many times by many people. James Randi showed audiences how this works with horoscopes, by having them all read what he said were horoscopes created just for them, which they all agreed seemed apt, and then revealing that they were all identical.
