A good CS degree should include writing a lot of code, but should focus on architecture and infrastructure in upper-level courses. Writing large code from scratch is something rarely done in 100/200-level college courses. The CS degree's programming content may need to focus more on critical reading than creative writing in those lower-levels. The value proposition of a CS degree may have significantly changed since there's just less programming to be done in 2026. We're no longer in a world where just knowing a little bit about tech (the "Cs and Ds get degrees" crowd) is enough to base a stable career on.
