@LiamGilmartin@mastodon.ie Before responding, I wanna say that I agree that tags.pub is in the wrong here. However, I think your analysis is off. Nothing I've seen so far seems to indicate that tags.pub is pushing things to people who didn't follow them. The whole thing is that you have to follow tags.pub to see what they boost. They still boost your own content of course, but it's not for an unwilling audience. So like, either there's a meaningful difference between tags.pub and tagpush.app, or else they're both in the wrong. I'm trying to work out what the difference is, because I get a lot of my posts boosted by the tagpush.app bots, and I've never heard anyone else complain about this. And to be clear, this isn't a gotcha or a whataboutism. I genuinely am just curious if we're either overlooking the existing bots, or if there's a meaningful difference. @alice@lgbtqia.space @blogpost@tagpush.app

@riverpunk@defcon.social @alice@lgbtqia.space @blogpost@tagpush.app I'm never upset to be told that I've misunderstood something, we all do it and if someone didn't point it out then we'd never learn! Alice says in the OP: “Today, an unknown bot swarm started using my name, boosting my posts, and inserting itself into communities I helped create.” It's from that statement that I inferred that Alice had not followed anything that Evan had created...
