@riverpunk@defcon.social @alice@lgbtqia.space @evan@cosocial.ca @blogpost@tagpush.app I think that to see stuff from the blogpost bot I would need to follow it first (which would be conscious decision by me which means consent), whereas the tags-dot-pub thing takes your stuff and pushes it in ways you don't, and without you necessarily knowing it's even happening. I'd have no problem with this if it were opt-in, but it isn't.

A replica Roman odometer. At the end of each Roman mile, a gear wheel releases a metal or hardwood ball into a box causing a quite loud noise. The balls in the box are counted when the desired point is reached. @transience @GeofCox Hi! This video is aimed at exactly your question, and is the first in a series of videos by Christopher Barnatt (formerly a Computer Science lecturer at the University of Nottingham). The susbsequent videos are listed in the shownotes for this one. CB has a no-nonsense and un-showy style of delivery, and his teaching experience means he understands the need to not overwhelm the beginner. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8vmXvoVjZw

“The Museum of Failure.. is a celebration of innovation gone wrong. It showcases a wide range of failed products and ideas from around the world, from famous flops like the Apple Newton and Google Glass to lesser-known attempts that never made it to market. The museum emphasises that failure is not something to be feared or hidden, but rather a crucial part of creativity, experimentation, and progress.” https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/latenightlive/musuem-of-failure/106491864 #Failure...

“All societies have national biographies in which we tend to tell ourselves the best stories of ourselves, but if we really want to know what a society holds dear, you need to look at who they exile, who they imprison, who they banish, who they cast out – and what is done to those people in each instance.” https://observer.co.uk/culture/interviews/article/the-banal-brutality-of-the-magdalene-laundries #éire #Ireland
