While from one point of view (yours) a hashtag is just a hashtag and this is just using them in a creative way that the system permits, in reality they have meaning and in this case meaningful personal attributes that are not at all like #history or #linux. That's where judgement, discretion and care are exercised in curation. Your tool removes that judgement, discretion and care, and in Alice's case thereby removes their agency which is why it's upsetting.

@evan@cosocial.ca @riverpunk@defcon.social @alice@lgbtqia.space @blogpost@tagpush.app Just because an instance is an open relay doesn't remove the obligation on all of us to act with discretion and care towards other users who happen to be on such an instance, and who may well not have even heard the term 'open relay'. Seeing an account pop up posting your stuff which uses your name (or is created from a very personal hashtag) is at best creepy, and for people who have been the victims of toxic behaviour on or offline could be extremely upsetting
