@davidrevoy@framapiaf.org @agturcz@circumstances.run renaming the project will inconvenience distributions, but it's a one-time cost they have the tooling to handle (cf varnish -> vinyl rename and several others that went fine).
I'd argue that it's worth doing if that means more cooperation by hardware vendors, if the maintainers have the spoons for it.

@quinze@corteximplant.com @davidrevoy@framapiaf.org In the past I was handling renaming of a library package as a Debian Maintainer. There is some overhead comparing to just maintain the package, but as long as the maintainer is not fighting with the burnout already, it's not unbearable. So, yeah, I would gladly endorse such change.
