FAT8 was fucking lean. Only a single directory, up to 255 files, the FAT table that only took up one sector, 16 sectors to hold all of the 16 character names and a 256byte sector size. (Only a max of 255 clusters though) So it held more data, supported more files, supported bigger file names and took up less space than FAT-12, FAT-16 and CBM DOS
