@Unsightly3055@universeodon.com The update client runs a scheduled update check with a 6 hour interval. It only runs when the OS considers there to be working internet access as determined by having at least one available network passing connectivity checks if those are enabled as they are by default. It also depends on not being below the battery warning level determined by the OS by default, although it's not unsafe if it runs out of battery while installing an update. It can be rebooted safely during install.

@Unsightly3055@universeodon.com Users can configure the constraints in Settings > System > System update. The main configurable constraint is to limit it to only using certain types of networks ("Not roaming" or "Unmerered" instead of "Any") which it sets for the scheduled job to avoid triggering until a compatible network is available. It also sets the network restrictions for the connections it makes to avoid it accidentally using the wrong types. Can also be configured to require that the device is charging.
