Our food bin is full of maggots. I thought just closing the lid tight and ignoring it might help but I opened yesterday and it was full. Some online advice says wash with boiling water and bleach, but then it can’t go to the food waste recycling collection tomorrow, and instead I’ve got some bleachy rotting food waste soup. Others say collections expect maggots, don’t worry, let them take it then wash properly afterwards. Others say we should try to put it all inside a single food waste bag for them, which wouldn’t be big enough, and would require transferring the maggots somehow to the bag, which I’m guessing they would still prob eat thru. Also presumably at some point I will open the bin to a swarm of hungry flies.
