@saxifraga@lgbtqia.space Oh. The Gods be with you <3 I have a 12 year old boy who is my world, and everyone is already bracing for the fallout from him dieing. But I CANNOT function without a cat, because I have PTSD. So I'll keep all his things for the next kitty, and keep the more sentimental things on a shelf with his ashes. Like his mouse on a string that doesn't even look like a mouse anymore, and his Japanese ceramic dishes.

    @praetor@mstdn.social Cats are so precious! 12 is already a great age! Ours was 18, but we’d only had him for 5 years. Our first cat as a couple was 7 when he unexpectedly died. I love having a cat, but with our elderly man, my anxiety for him was stratospheric and heartbreaking, so much so that I don’t think I can do it again. But I totally understand the need for a kitty companion. May you have many more years with yours!
