And more improvements to the blur: it now has noise to reduce color banding (white noise, should look similar to the KDE one but not niri one - it uses interleaved gradient noise, I tried it first but the pattern was too noticeable), and the menu background is now dark grey instead of black, as noise over black areas looked strange. Also another optimization because I missed a pretty obvious thing last time.

Other than that - trying more things for controls preferences, e.g. a layout similar to the old openemu one (https://www.flickr.com/photos/mucx/5609520563/in/album-72157624792721222 - they later switched to a vertical list on the right, idk why - possibly so that it can scroll)
I prob won't go with this one, just doing prototypes now
this specific style has an advantage that it's clearer that the keys are clickable, and potentially better disambiguating gamepad icons between physical and virtual gamepad - idk if this works either, but if I try everything maybe I will find something that works one day
it's one of those areas where regardless of how many notebook sketches I do, it's never clear what actually works or doesn't work in practice - that's one of the reasons it's taking so fucking long :/

hmmm one aspect of controls preferences I hadn't considered is: it also needs to be accessible from game properties, to do per-game overrides that dialog is tiny, so it makes sense to have controls in a separate dialog ...in which case I can make it larger than preferences by default AND can do things like sidebars without worrying about settings already having one
