i wish that formal semantics of programming languages were more widely known and appreciated.
because it seems everyone has opinions on PL syntax but nobody ever bothers to learn about semantics.

@typeswitch@gamedev.lgbt we reached a similar conclusion a while back and pithed it as stop talking about syntax and start thinking about semantics we also slightly terrify our coworkers because we can parse the large pile of formal semantics on, e.g., the jsonnet website
