Over the decades, my hope has dwindled that most of the video content (movies, TV) creators/distributors will ever "come around" to the idea of selling DRM-free digital downloads to consumers the way that many record labels/distributors eventually did for albums and songs. I still buy physical video media (mostly DVD, Blu-ray) and rip it for my personal use, but I fear the days of that physical media are numbered.
