But a system's purpose is what it does, right? This system delayed Uncle's glucose sensors by two months, endangering his health and _literally_ shortening his life (because that's what poor glucose control does for a diabetic!), so it is reasonable for us to conclude that the purpose of this system is to endanger disabled people's health and shorten their lives.

Anyway, the insurance company has now informed me that to prevent these delays from happening again, I have to ensure that Uncle's doctor sends a new prescription to the supply company a month before the insurance company's authorization expires so the supply company has time to get a new authorization. What purpose can this requirement possibly serve, other than making it harder for Uncle to obtain the benefits he needs? It's not like he's suddenly going to stop being a diabetic. 5/?
