It may make sense for tech giants, who rely heavily on AI, to demand water use prioritized for them. Of course, that by no means justifies it. Seattle has just enacted a year-long ban on AI data centres. I hope more municipalities follow suit. RE: https://mas.to/users/meganL/statuses/116782811977263105

    @daihard@sharkey.world It wasn't just that. It wasn't just prioritizing AI among industrial uses of water. This was the fake quote that circulated, which is very typical of Effective Altruism cult. Which was why it was so believable to me (I didn't boost the toot that had that in it and was busy so I didn't factcheck it before subtooting.) There were two "sources".
