And as a bonus in terms of color: I have a whole lot of people of color in my story. Just like San Francisco does in reality. 4/4

#WritersCoffeeClub June 18: Talk about a time fiction shocked you. I was 12 years old when _The Empire Strikes Back_ came out, and I forget if my parents took me to see it on opening day or if it was a few days later. But this was pre-internet, so the surprise was not spoiled for me. So, not only was that a pretty big plot twist, but also I was too young and innocent to have any idea that something like that might be coming. I cannot possibly overstate how much it shook me.
