Pretty chuffed to hear from the organisers that my "How not to use AI" preconference workshop helped set the tone of the following days, and that scholarly values and the benefits of slowing down were recurring conversation topics If your conference or grad school is looking for a workshop format that avoids the tired marketing cliches and productivity narratives around "AI", I'd be happy to do a rerun (time permitting) https://ideophone.org/how-not-to-use-ai-workshop/ #workshop #CriticalAI

  • I asked Claude to draw a cartoon about an AI steamroller coming towards protesting academics with their feet stuck in cement, but Claude didn't do a good enough job ;-) Happy to make an appearance of the same conference to showcase the advantages of AI for research. Has upped the level in my field.

@dingemansemark@scholar.social Wow, really insightful post!! Thank you so much for sharing! I think we do need to slow down to truly commit to the scientific method. Sometimes, even those “mundane tasks” that colleagues tell me I should use AI to do (such as reformat a table), give me the space to reflect on the findings and also how to make them more accessible to readers.
