@momo@social.linux.pizza I teach HS CompSci, including a topic on Ethics which covers AI.
I stream my lessons, so I tell them that my (12 core i7) laptop doesn't have the capacity to run GPT4All _and_ stream.
That generally does the trick.

@grant_h@mastodon.social I checked with him: "To run this model I need 16 GB ram free. Let's check... Okay, no problem here, I have 20 GB unused right now. But just as a hint, remember my older laptop that I had before this one? That had 8 GB ram installed. At all! I wouldn't be able to run this on the old one." Again, Linux. On Windows I'd never be able to have 20 GB out of 24 GB system memory free...
