This afternoon a #hedgehog walked right past me while I was on a conf call in the garden! That is not a good sign as they are supposed to be nocturnal. It was quite wobbly and thin too, which is bad news. I left a bowl of water where it disappeared into the undergrowth. I rang a wildlife rescue place, and they said chicken-based cat food in jelly is a good food source. They wouldn't take it as they were full. I bought some cat food at a shop and left some on the top of a curry tub lid nearby, but I couldn't hear or see it for a while. After dinner when it was getting dark I went out again, and found the curry tub completely clean! I put some more cat food out, just in case - there's no evidence it ate it, and there are cats around :( I waited for a while and eventually heard more rustling and saw it again near the cat food 🥳 There were also 2 fat slugs near which I think they eat, so hopefully it will be OK overnight 🤞 Hedgehogs are cool.
