The piano motif arrives like Joker in the old Batman telly series. And then Britney sings and emotes through the song.
Emotes? Sure, Britney's hacked off that her lover's gone, and leaves the song in a place of longing and desire. Best bit is - obviously - the middle eight.
Max Martin has arrived, he will not leave. Britney Spears has arrived, we did not - do not! - want her to leave.

But #TOTP 1999 has left, that's it, there is no more. Next on Christmas Day BBC1 was "Hooves of Fire", an anarchic animation with Robbie Williams giving a voiceover. I was off to Channel 4 for the Fifteen-to-One Millennium Quiz, followed by the Countdown final. Later, ITV had The Battle of the Gladiators, all of the soaps, and three episodes of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. BBC1 a cracking David Copperfield and the Vicar of Dibley. Back in 2026, i'm off to have some food. See you for the second Mystery Year!
