@wavefunction@mastodon.sdf.org @markmetz@sfba.social @clew@ecoevo.social We're trying to stop them so we can (1) grade them properly, (2) help them overcome any weaknesses in their skill sets, and (3) help them get the most of their educations. Hight school and college kids are just that: kids. They don't know any better. All they care about is getting the grades they need with the least amount of effort and having fun. Sadly, those aren't the skills that will help them get ahead in life.

@mlanger@mastodon.world @markmetz@sfba.social @clew@ecoevo.social The thing is, they do know better. Talk to any kid of just about any age and they Know that skipping over homework doesn't help them. They're either making tradeoffs that we're not privy to, or they're struggling and don't feel they can approach the teacher for support, or some combination of each. For the small fraction of those who genuinely don't care, why continue forcing someone who truly doesn't want to learn the material?
