At some point I'd love to see a timeline of the popular news "discovering" the existence of trans people. Chevalier d'Eon, James Barry, Nicolai De Raylan... there are SO MANY instances.
Because I strongly suspect there is another "discovery" every twenty years or so, going back centuries, basically to the birth of journalism. There's a great big hubbub and everybody is all up in arms and then they get distracted by other stuff. When the novelty builds up again, another story breaks.

Why's it important? Because it would demonstrate that: a) trans people aren't new, and we all knew that, but more importantly, b) NOBODY has lived their entire lives without the existence of trans people being cause for a moral panic, and therefore NOBODY should get to pretend like they're surprised that we're here. Because not only have we always been here, but popular culture knew the entire time and faked surprise and outrage every time.
