Why's it important? Because it would demonstrate that:
a) trans people aren't new, and we all knew that, but more importantly,
b) NOBODY has lived their entire lives without the existence of trans people being cause for a moral panic, and therefore NOBODY should get to pretend like they're surprised that we're here.
Because not only have we always been here, but popular culture knew the entire time and faked surprise and outrage every time.
